Ambitious bid for Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate sustainable tourism award

Story published: Monday, 16 June 2008

That’s the question posed by the Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate Tourism Partnership, which has created a new post to help it better develop the area as a sustainable tourism destination.

The Partnership aims to transform the region’s visitor economy – worth an estimated £765 million annually, and encompassing internationally-famous beauty spots and attractions including Malham Cove, the Settle-Carlisle Railway and Fountains Abbey.

It has today begun the search for an Executive Chair to lead the organisation.

Steve Macare, Chairman of the Partnership, said: “We are looking for someone with the stature and credibility to operate at all levels, with a strong business background. Our Executive Chair needs to have excellent leadership skills, experience of partnerships with diverse stakeholders – and above all a commitment to improving the performance of the Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate visitor economy.”

Visit http://www.yorkshiredales.org/sustainable/YDHATP.htm for more information about the post.
