VisitBritain 2008/9 Family Fun Campaign
Story published: Tuesday, 8 July 2008
The campaign is scheduled to launch in the Telegraph on Saturday 12th July, with extensive promotion in the paper a week beforehand.
There will be a bright and colourful 32 page A5 guide in the newspaper which features various offers and regions, promoting discounts at a range of attractions and accommodations.
The promotion will be post-promoted in paper and on the Telegraph website for seven days after the launch, directing readers to the newly launched Family Fun microsite linking from enjoyengland.com (to be launched 14th July)
Welcome to Yorkshire has been in close and regular communications with a vast number of attractions and accommodation providers and has managed to secure 41 varied offers. Six of these (4 attraction and 2 accommodation) will appear in the Telegraph as part of the main launch, whilst the remainders will be posted on the microsite as downloadable vouchers.
The Daily Telegraph is Britain's best selling newspaper, read by 2,106,000 adults everyday and this has been a great opportunity for attractions and accommodation in our region to get promotion on a National level as part of a highly promoted campaign.
The six offers in paper chosen to represent Yorkshire are:
- 2 for 1 at the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre, Sheffield
- 2 for 1 on the Yorkshire Wheel, York
- 2 for 1 at Dig, York
- 2 for 1 at the Bronte Parsonage Museum;
- 3 for 2 at Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield
- One child stays for free at Monkgate Guest House, York.
Enjoy England is developing microsites for each of the campaigns launched, and Welcome to Yorkshire now have extensive coverage on the cultural microsite (with numerous features, events listings and a competition) along with the Family Fun site.
Look out for the guide in the newspaper next month and have a look at
www.culture-england.com/ in the meantime.
