Yorkshire's Pass to Crown Jewel Attractions

Story published: Friday, 5 February 2010

Welcome to Yorkshire continues to lead the way in providing the best quality and choice for tourists by launching the UK’s first ever regional sightseeing pass.

The Yorkshire Pass will build on the success of the York Pass, which ran successfully in the city for seven years. The new Pass will replace the York Pass and allow entry to a wider choice of 75 leading attractions across the county, including World Heritage sites, national museums and leading stately homes.

York Minster, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, The Deep, Castle Howard and Conisbrough Castle are just some of the iconic places participating in the Yorkshire Pass.

Welcome to Yorkshire and its six tourism partnerships – Visit York, Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate, Yorkshire Moors and Coast, West Yorkshire, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire and Yorkshire South - will work together to promote the Pass in their domestic and international marketing campaigns to encourage people to use the three and six day passes in particular as a reason to extend their stays in Yorkshire.

Tour operators Expedia, Superbreak, lastminute.com and Viator have already agreed to sell the Yorkshire Pass to their customers.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “The Yorkshire Pass gives people access to some of the county’s crown jewel attractions and the more it is used, the more savings are made, so people can explore more of Yorkshire for less. It is the first time, anywhere in Britain, that a regional sightseeing pass has been introduced so once again Yorkshire is leading the way in putting tourists first.”

The Pass will be available from the 1st April for durations of one, two, three and six days. A one day pass costs £28, two day pass £38, three day £44 and six day £68 (child prices available).

A complimentary guidebook is issued with each Pass packed with maps and attraction information plus a special offers booklet with a host of evening entertainment, dining and shopping discounts to make stays in Yorkshire even better value for money.

Yorkshire Passes will be sold in Tourist Information Centres across the county or they can be purchased online at www.yorkshirepass.com from March 22nd.

Tour operators or agencies interested in packaging/selling the Yorkshire Pass and earning commission at the same time should contact Elaine Moss on info@yorkshirepass.com.
