There’s a Great Deal of Yorkshire at Best Of Britain & Ireland 2010
Story published: Friday, 5 March 2010
Team Yorkshire aims to entice the crowds onto the Yorkshire stand ‘K80’ at the Best of Britain and Ireland (BOBI) exhibition 17th – 20th March at Olympia, London.
Welcome to Yorkshire and its official partners* will be joined by some of the very best tourism organisations and attractions from the region. Stand partners include deliciouslyorkshire; Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions; Marriott Hotels; Go Racing; National Railway Museum (NRM); Crown Spa Hotel; Harewood House and Swinton Park.
Gary Verity, chief executive for Welcome to Yorkshire, is determined to make sure everyone knows Yorkshire is a world class destination:
“This is a vital event for us as it forms the centrepiece of British Tourism Week and is aimed at both the travel trade and consumers alike. We intend to take the team and make a real impact. We know we have lots to shout about and believe me in a market place the size of Olympia you can guarantee we will be shouting our message out loud and proud.”
The 2010 Best Of Britain & Ireland Travel Trade Forum takes place on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th March. This is Britain's official exhibition dedicated exclusively to the domestic travel trade. This is followed by the innovative two day consumer event on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th March, Best Of Britain & Ireland. This exciting showcase invites everyone to explore the best of Britain and Ireland's amazing destinations on our doorstep.
Team Yorkshire will be promoting the region at the various networking activities and are hosting Welcome Receptions for both domestic and overseas buyers.
deliciouslyorkshire, which champions the use and consumption of food and drink from Yorkshire and Humber, will be managing the stand’s refreshment area and hosting a food sampling programme which will include E Oldroyd & Sons Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb - which has been hitting the headlines following the announcement of Yorkshire Rhubarb having been awarded Protected Designation of Origin by the EU. Selecting some of the finest produce from the region, visitors to the stand will be able to sample cheeses, chutneys and beers, ciders and cordials, Yorkshire Dales Granola and Milk, and enjoy Yorkshire Afternoon tea: Parkin, Taylors tea and Betty’s cakes.
deliciouslyorkshire champion and Chef Stephanie Moon will conduct the sampling sessions and be on hand to answer any food related questions.
To coincide with BOBI, familiarisation trips of some of Yorkshire’s highlights have been arranged for tour operators from Spain, Australia, India and China.
Gary is keen for members of the travel trade to experience the region first hand with a view to bringing future visitors over:
“We’re not only taking Yorkshire to our target markets, we are also bringing them to us to sample Yorkshire for themselves. What better selling point can there be?”
