White Rose Awards Winners – showcase Leeds and West Yorkshire to the UK meetings market

Conference Leeds, the super convention bureau for Leeds and West Yorkshire is celebrating after 6 of its conference venues and partners received awards in the coveted “White Rose Awards”. The awards are organised annually by Welcome to Yorkshire in recognition of the high standards of tourist attractions and accommodation in the Yorkshire region.

The winners were announced at a glittering awards ceremony held at Bridlington Spa on 25th September 2008. Winners from the White Rose Awards 2008 will now be put forward as Yorkshire’s nominations for the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2009.

Leeds and West Yorkshire winners were:
• The Queens Hotel, Leeds – Business Tourism Award of the Year
• Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa – Hotel of the Year (35 bedrooms and over)
• Harewood House - Visitor Attraction of the Year (50,000 visitors and over)
• Ackroyd House, Holmfirth – Best Newcomer to Tourism
• Rudding Park, Harrogate – Tourism Web Site of the Year
• Wakefield Tourist Information Centre – Tourist Information Service of the Year

Nicola Lockwood, Head of Conference Leeds said:
“It’s fantastic that so many of our venues have achieved this standard of recognition. We are particularly delighted that our venues have achieved the Business Tourism Award and the Hotel of the Year Award as we know that business tourism is worth a staggering £291 million to the region*. Awards like these showcase our venues to the UK and play their part in encouraging meetings and event organisers to host their events in our region.”
