Pudding Yorkshire On The Map
Story published: Monday, 26 January 2009
Welcome to Yorkshire is cooking up a buzz around tourism as it endorses ‘British Yorkshire Pudding Day’ which is held annually on the first Sunday in February. Proud to be responsible for a county fondly associated with its popular local speciality – the Yorkshire Pudding - the region’s tourist board wants to use the opportunity to ‘pud’ Yorkshire on the map as it shouts far and wide about all that the region has to offer.
Gary Verity, Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive, says:
“British Yorkshire Pudding Day is a great reason to share with the world positive messages about our wonderful county. Yorkshire is a big, bold, and beautiful part of England. It’s a wonderfully diverse region offering romantic moorland, pretty villages, lively cities and grand sweeping coastlines.
“As versatile as the Yorkshire Pudding some might say. So whether you enjoy yours with a savoury or sweet filling, or just with onion gravy, Yorkshire is a homely comfort which everyone enjoys, just like its pudding counterpart!”
Celebrity Chef Brian Turner further endorses the annual celebration of Yorkshire Puddings. He says:
“Yorkshire has so much more quality produce and indeed fabulous people serving it than twenty years ago but thankfully we've still got our good old Yorkshire pudding just like my Gran used to make! Life would not be the same without Yorkshires and a roast!”
“I think we should all celebrate our glorious British cuisine, and where better to start than with one of the most iconic and traditional recipes which is not only popular in our own county, but famed throughout much of the world.”
